Spore, an imaginary electronic game developed by American computer programmer Will Wright, who developed SimCity for his company Maxis Software, and other life simulation games. Spore was produced for Microsoft Company's Windows OS and Apple Inc.'s Mac OS Inc by the American video game firm Electronic Arts in 2008. Spore also helps a player from its origins as a microscopic organ, through creation as an intellectual and social being, through interstellar discovery as a spacefaring civilization, to monitor the development of a species. For its wide scale, and its use of open-ended gameplay and procedural generation, it has gained widespread interest. Players are able to use multiple artists at each stage to create material for their games. These are then automatically uploaded to the online Sporepedia and are accessible by other players for download.
